What is biblical counselling?
Biblical counselling is an approach to counselling that is guided and informed primarily by the Bible, understood as the Word of God. It uses a biblical lens by which to view the world and how we are designed to operate in it, including our understanding of God, humanity, relationships, purpose, health, hope, and healing.
Biblical counselling holds to the "Sufficiency of Scripture," a biblical belief (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:3), particularly defended by Protestant reformers in the 16th century.
Biblical counselling has had many key contributors since its modern inception, with David Powlison (1949-2019) being one of the most recent and universally accepted representatives of the movement.
